The Calm Before...
 
Since I began this piece, we have weathered horrific storms (both meteorological and political).  I left town just before Hurricane Helene swept through (and away) much of Western North Carolina, and when I finally got back home to my studio, it was just as I'd left it, but had taken on deeper significance. 
 
This textile shows a simple creekside barn in a field with the last glimpse of sun shining through the impending storm clouds.  Set in a solid slab of local walnut which captures the coming winds with its sweeping grain.
